Where We Work
The work of c3compassion is the result of the generosity and ongoing commitment of individuals and businesses. We are a philanthropic organization trying to create a connection between people in need and those with a desire to create positive change in the world. As a result of c3controls very generous back office and administrative support and leadership, we are extremely proud to report that 95 cents of every dollar received goes directly towards improving the lives of the children and families in our programs! Below is a collection of the places we have been able to help, and we hope to add more to the list as we grow.
Kenya, Africa
- 1.5 million children in rural Africa do not attend school due to poverty
- 1 in 2 Kenyan girls will never attend school
- Girls in Kenya on average only complete 6.7 years of schooling
- Getting girls into boarding school and to graduate secondary school keeps them from being married young, keeps them from getting pregnant, keeps them from being trafficked.
San Salvador, El Salvador
- Most children only complete 6.7 years of school
- Many girls drop out of school due to cultural norms of early marriage and household duties
- Gang violence, abuse and threats made to girls makes education challenging
- By age 14 only 1 in 4 young people remain in school
- The lack of skilled labor creates a vicious cycle of poverty in the country
- Securing a trade skill through education will help to secure a job after graduation and will begin to change the tides of poverty by allowing industry to hire skilled workers.
